Join the demonstrations, discussion sessions, and vendor shows of this educational field day for grass-based agriculture.  Held in Fredericksburg, Wayne Co., OH from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Four activity tracks: Grazing; Farmstead; Homestead; Natural Resources; Children. The Ohio Department of Agriculture is hosting a meeting Wednesday, January 13th at 11:00 am to hear from growers and other interested stakeholders about the needs, opportunities and challenges for the specialty crop industry in Ohio. Ohio Fish Farmers Meeting Set

Ohio fish farmers and those wishing to become fish farmers are invited to a meeting with Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Robert Boggs, on Friday, October 30, 2009 in Fisher Auditorium at OSU’s OARDC Campus in Wooster. A strategic plan for developing Ohio’s aquaculture industry will be discussed and revised at this meeting. A free dinner will be provided to all those who RSVP by October 19 to: shaffer.271@osu.edu.

Small Farm Center at the upcoming Farm Science Review

Small and family scale farmers will want to visit the Small Farm Center at the upcoming Farm Science Review scheduled for Sept 22-24, 2009 at OSU’s Molly Caren Center near London, OH.  The Small Farm Center is sponsored by the OSU Extension Sustainable Ag Team and American Small Farm Magazine.  The Center will feature small farm equipment, educational displays and small farm seminars on topics such as moving off the energy grid, growing blueberries, pasture management, grants and loans for small farms, bramble production, freshwater shrimp and many more.
